New online paper: Cultural Accommodation and Language Priming

This paper explores three arguments. First, cultural accommodation
by living in another culture for a while may have a long-lasting but partially
dormant influence on behavior. Second, foreign language is a prime,
activating behavior associated with this language. Third, a foreign language
is expected to be a particularly forceful prime for those who have lived in a
country where this language is spoken. We explore this logic in a prisoner’s
dilemma quasi-experiment that focuses on competitive versus cooperative behavior.

Rating versus Ranking paper available

Added Rating versus Ranking paper, investigating the best way to
reduce response and language bias in cross-national surveys. Our results -
based on two studies of 1965 undergraduate and 1714 MBA students in 16
different countries - confirm our hypotheses that both solutions reduce
response and language bias, but show that ranking generally is a superior
solution.

The current version of Wine (1.0.1) handles some unimplemented
functions a bit aggressively. This doesn't sit well with our Publish or
Perish installer. To install Publish or Perish under Linux, use an
alternative method as suggested in our PoP FAQ [Q309].
